Cambridge Digital Bible Research is a startup charity (501(c)(3) non-profit organization) that brings scholarly excellence to resources for Bible translation. We have a small, tight knit and highly focused team that produces materials on a rigorous schedule.

About the Role

The primary role of the Business Manager is to oversee all internal business operations. This person is accountable for the overall business plan and execution for the organization.


The Business Manager will be a part-time, hourly, employee, estimated at 10 to 20 hours per week. Compensation will be based on the combination of qualifications, skill level and experience. We're a fully remote team, so we rely heavily on deep trust, clear communication, and proactive engagement. We have in-person retreats on a quarterly to annual basis for the entire organization. Meetings are by Zoom.

Responsibilities

  • HR management

    • Contract negotiation

    • Policies

    • Coordinating onboarding and offboarding with IT

  • Payroll management

    • Maintain payroll operations according to CDBR policies and procedures

    • Resolve payroll discrepancies and answering employee payroll queries

    • Use a variety of different platforms (e.g. Wise, WorldRemit) to pay international contractors

  • Controller

    • Coordinate with fractional CFO to oversee all financial operations

    • Develop and maintain budget

    • Accounts payable/receivable

    • Financial tracking and reconciliations

    • Receipt letter processing

    • Bookkeeping

  • Administration

  • Ensure compliance with all legal requirements

  • Engage in team meetings for project planning and community building

  • Supervise the IT Director

Requirements

  • Experienced in business at a small organization

  • Interested in Bible Translation

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

  • Able to work remotely and be proactive in making the business better

  • Detail-oriented, self-motivated

  • Not shy about asking questions

  • Comfortable with Google suite, Zoom, and cloud-based file management systems

  • Experienced with QuickBooks and/or QuickBooks Online
